Im back

I'm back, Ha. Yeah so I know it's been a while but summer was way to busy to stop and write on my blog. With that being said I suppose I shall start there.

Summer involved two steady jobs and other odds and ends for family and friends. I had an internship in Beloit with the police department and I also did some metal fabrication work for a friend of the family. Overall it involved 70+ hours a week and 6+ days a week. At times it seemed overwhelming but in the end it was well worth it. I gained valuable life experience and a great amount of experience for a potential career in law enforcement. I saw more things than imagined while working with them and got to experience first hand what its like to the work they do. A short list of what I was able to experience includes traffic patrol, drug search warrants, shootings, and even a murder. Overall it was unbelievable but it only lasted for the first two months of the summer. Then I retired for the summer. lol

The beginning of August was the beginning vacation for me. We started with a staycation where in the matter of a week I was in Chicago, West Lafyette Indiana, Gurne Illinois, Baraboo, Eau Claire, and Green Bay. I had a great time visitng my cousins school, Purdue, in Indiana, going to Navy Pier in Chicago along with the Shed Aquarium, going to Six Flags, and relaxing at the camp ground in Baraboo and with Michelle and the fam in Green Bay. After all of that fun was over I then went to the UP in Michigan with many friends from school and had a blast. These three weeks extremely fun and a good time for me to get away from work and relax before surgery and school.

The last week in August involved a few trips to Madison for some Doctors apointments which resulted in an ACL and meniscus repair in my right knee. Sugery went well and rehab is going well too but it bugs me that I can't do anything!! Overall it's a bummer but at least it was at the end of the summer and at least I still have all my digits. (Sorry Chad)

Now that school is under way I am excited and ready for the semester to be rolling and for me to be elbow deep in work. I have enough to do to keep me busy but not too much so I can enjoy the last semester of school. I am looking to graduate in December but have a few more classes to go until I am ready. Overall it looks to be a promising semester and I am ready to dive in!

Almost Almost Almost There...

Great news, only two more finals and only one more week. I cannot wait for the semester to be done but even more importantly I cannot wait to see Emily (this all sounds familiar). Lately I have not been doing much outside of studying, going to rehab for my stupid knee, and hanging out with friends. Everything is fun except for the stupid rehab and studying but besides that I like hanging out with my friends so at least I have that going for me. Emily is not here yet which is too bad but I think I can make it another week. Also, when I get back I get to see my nephew and nieces for the first time in a long time. I will be traveling to Iowa (I know, be jealous Emily, California has nothing on Iowa) to see my brother and his family who I haven't seen in months as well. Then hopefully the next weekend I will be in Green Bay for a Packer tryout (not) but rather to see McKenna, G-Man, Chad, Nala (I don't know how to spell her name but that looks right), oh yeah and Michelle too. Overall the next couple weeks look to be very exciting and eventful. Summer will be here along with everyone who I have not seen for too long (that includes you too Mom Rogstad so I hope you don't mind)!

P.S. it is now officially grilling out season which is also good. Brats, burgers, hot dogs, yard games, and non-alcoholic beverages!!

Almost there....

Well the semester is coming to an end (kind of) and I am becoming more and more anxious to see the summer hours roll my way. School has picked up quite a bit (way more than Emily) and I can only seem to keep my a little above water. Too many papers, cases to brief, readings, and exams. However, the good news is that my Emily is coming home soon and it is also bike weather. I have missed both (one more than the other, you decide). I can't wait to see my family again, I miss my nephew and nieces who I haven't seen for a long time along with the rest of my family. Baseball has also been underway for a while now and we are doing well as a team. The bad news is I messed up my other knee a couple weeks ago and again this past weekend during our games so it doesn't look like I will be playing much more this year. Overall I am doing well but can't wait for the semester to come to an end and be home with everyone (Emily). Hope everything is going well with all of you!!! I wish I had pics to add but apparently I don't have anything new, sorry. Oh yeah and of course the Cubbies have been playing which is awesome.

Amazing....

Well California was awesome!!! I had a great time mainly because I got to spend it with Emily. I missed her so much and now I do again as well. The vacation was amazing and well needed and I couldn't have asked for more. We surfed a couple times, did a little bike riding, watched the sunset on the beach, did some bike riding, and some site seeing. Overall it was a great time and I can't wait until Mid-May now. Here are a couple pics from the trip but there are plenty more.

Surfing was fun and moderately successful. I had a lot of fun getting trampled by the waves... It was fun.
This is one of the many pictures which we took together. This was on our walk from Fisherman's Wharf to Carmel. It was a fun walk which we went on about seven times and it was worth it. I miss you Em!!!!!

There are a lot of things I can't do...

With spring break fast approaching I've only had sixthings in mind this week.
6) Presentation on Monday
5) exam on Monday
4) paper due on Tuesday
3) exam on Wednesday
2) another exam on Tuesday
1) Going to see Emily

I only have three days of classes but they are busy!! (and way worth it)

I miss you so much Emily and can't wait to see you soon!!

Oh, but girl, I can't buy you a big diamond ring
No house on a hill full of life's finer things
But I'll tell you right now there's a whole lot that I just can't do
Oh, but baby, don't think I can't love you

Simple Equipment

As of yesterday at about 4 p.m. my 15 year wrestling career came to an end. I have been wrestling since I was six and until these past couple of years it had been successful. College wrestling was a big transition from high school and for me I had a hard time making it but it was still fun and well worth it. Wrestling has been the sport that has taught me the most about my life and how to deal with the peaks and valleys. This sport alone is one which offers so many rewards but requires the most work in order to obtain them. There is not one day that will go by in which wrestling will not be a part of something I do, directly or indirectly. At the time it seemed like just another sport, only tougher but looking back it was so much more. I hated going to practices but loved what I received from participating and I loved competing. This is a sport which can do so much for anybody who wants to put forth the effort. Its rewards are endless and so is the commitment which it demands. I cannot not say enough for this sport or the people who have helped me along. Between my brothers Tanner and Rikki, my Uncle Chris, my Grandma and Grandpa Dorthy and Dick, two high coaches Matt Ries and Rob Llorca, college coaches Don Parker, Russ Peloquin, and Derek Sikora, and most importantly my teammates, my family and specifically my mother Sue Fisher and Father Rick Hendricks! This sport has helped me grow individual but build great relationships with all of these people. In high school and even before that, the family would gather as they traveled to our weekend tournaments, no matter the distance. During the busy work week, they would take time out of their busy schedules and travel to home or away meets to support me and the team. Our family grew and bonded over all sports but none more than wrestling. I can't say enough for this sport as it has done endless work in my life. I love and will miss it. Whoever thought such simple equipment such as wrestling shoes and head gear could lead to such great life lessons and even greater memories. I can only hope more people involve their kids in this great sport as I know I will want mine to.

AHHH

Well with wrestling season winding down and baseball season already underway I have a few more things on my plate. Obviously school is number one priority and very demanding so I am glad to have sports to escape too. However a little over a week ago I sprained my MCL which hurts like hell and is not a good thing. I haven't wrestled or played baseball since and don't even know if I will be able to compete in the conference tournament a week from Sunday. This would put a damper on the end of my wrestling career. Oh well, things happen I guess. Either way I really miss my Emily and can't wait to see her in less than a month. So with all that said... AHHHHHH is how I feel about now.

Here are a couple pictures from the last few matches I have wrestled in. Things were starting to turn around and I was starting to wrestle smarter and more aggressive as if I were in high school again. Only if I could get my old tenacity back.

January- its tough

Well break has been over for me for about two and a half weeks now which is not cool at all. I enjoyed my time at home and miss it greatly. Wrestling is alright, we have two a days now which gets old fast and really wears on my body; I need a personal masseuse! Anyways, wrestling shows a little light every now and again but I don't always see these bright spots. Emily is gone, she is having a blast which is awesome and I am glad she is doing this. However I miss her dearly and I hope I can make it out there to see her over break. Overall, life right now is tough with wrestling, no family, few friends are back from break yet, and Emily is gone. Oh well, I'll make it. On a positive note, here are two puppies one which is my brothers, the Doberman, and one which is my mom and step dads, the yellow lab. Their names are Diesel and Zeus, respectively.

P.S. the cold weather sucks!!
